On Thursday 17th November 2011 Raidió Corca Baiscinn will be celebrating the centenary of the building of Quilty’s Star of the Sea Church with two programmes. The first “Deadly Coast: The Wreck of the Leon XIII”, tells the story of the shipwreck off the coast of Quilty that led to the collection of money that eventually enabled the church to be built. The second programme is a recording of the concert held in the church on Sunday 30th October to mark the centenary.
The music includes the singing of the Ballad of the Leon XIII by Michael Falsey, and traditional music.
The programmes will be broadcast from 6 – 7pm on Thursday 17 November 2011.
