As the evenings draw in, and the weather becomes colder, what better than to pull up a comfortable chair, settle back and listen to some fantastic programmes on Raidió Corca Baiscinn?
Celebrating West Clare’s musical heritage, Breda Laitham and Orla Coughlan, both well known and respected musicians in their own rights, are launching their traditional music show “Ceol for the Soul” on Mondays from 2.20pm – 3.30pm. The perfect way to start your Monday afternoon.
Keeping up the Monday activity levels, Aine Mae O’Mahoney, a producer at Raidió Corca Baiscinn (and recently featured in the Irish Times’ “The Gloss” magazine) has launched a new programme to encourage people to get more active and fit. Cunningly entitled “Aine Mae’s Fitness Show”, it will cover all aspects of fitness, from nutrition to yoga, from walking to rock climbing, with surfing and triathlons in between. Hopefully it will encourage our listeners out in to the great outdoors, or at least to their nearest yoga class, rather than going into hibernation this winter! “Aine Mae’s Fitness Show” broadcasts on Mondays from 3.30 – 4pm.
Michelle Shannon, one of our long-standing volunteers, has started to present a magazine style show called “The Goodie Bag”. This has regular items on music, films, festivals both local and national, as well as chat and some excellent music. It is the perfect programme to kick off the weekend and is broadcast from 2.20 – 3.30pm, every Friday.
Finally, “The Word”, launched earlier in the Autumn, is a celebration Christian music, readings and chat, from 2 -3pm every Sunday. Due to its popularity, is has extended from 30 minutes to an hour a week.
There is always something new and innovative on Raidió Corca Baiscinn, so hopefully we can encourage people to tune in on 92.5 & 94.8FM, to hear local people presenting programmes with a local slant, but widespread appeal.
